BBC School Report

On Thursday 7th February 2008 we took 28 pupils from a Year 7 science class to Gateshead CLC. Alongside Whickham and Dryden schools the pupils ran the CLC like a real life news centre - they collected up to date news stories from the Internet and prepared their own reports using laptops and industry standard television and radio recording equipment. This is in preparation for the real BBC School Report day on Thursday 13th March 2008.

It was a fantastic day - check out the School Report Weblog site to see some of the practice material produced by all three schools. School Report Website

Aerobic Respiration

Your body needs glucose in order to release energy, which is needed in day-to-day activities. To get this energy, oxygen is needed to convert the glucose into the energy. The word equation for this process is:

The carbon dioxide is breathed out, as it is not needed in the body along with the water, which is breathed out as water vapour.
