It's all About the Colour

A selection of our Year 9 learners are working with Scientists from Northumbria University and STEM Ambassadors - also from Northumbria University.

The fantastic project involves learners researching why animals and plants use colour.

Throughout the project learners will carry out experiments that look at colour in Chemistry. Experiments will also be carries out that look at the bioluminescence of organisms.

Our learners will be posting comments here to track their progress throughout the project so keep checking back to see what they are getting up to!

I was a part of the project Its all about the Colour and over the past month we have been learning about Bioluminesence. We took samples from st Mary's lighthouse and took some samples. We then took it back to Northumbria University to see what bacteria samples were bioluminesent. The project was great fun and i learned alot about the topic and if the chance came again i would take part without hesitation.
