National Science Week 2009

Thomas Hepburn hosted another successful Science Showcase at the Metrocentre where pupils from primary, secondary and special schools demonstrate their understanding and enjoyment in Science. Not forgetting the famous Starlab which always attracts interest from pupils and the public. Pupils from Carr Hill Primary participated in an actual science lesson in the middle of the Metrocentre. Also represented at the event were local Universities and Beamish Museum.

Having reached the final of the National Award of "Best School" for our activities during Science Week we reached a close second place.

National Science Week was also celebrated in school activities with each Year group following different activities. Our Year 9 pupils were entered into the national "Darwin 200" competition for designing a brand new creature and we are still waiting for results.
